The BMW M8 Gran Coupe has just celebrated its international premiere. Let us take a closer look at the specs and features, shall we?

What the Bavarian carmaker calls the ‘four-door coupe’ ships with the same engine as the M5, specifically the 4.4-liter V8 TT rated at 600 hp (447 kW, Standard) or 625 hp (466 kW, Competition). The torque amounts to 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) for both variants. The transmission is eight-speed automatic, and there is a sophisticated AWD system with an active diff lock.

Getting from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 3.3 seconds (3.2 s if you are driving the Competition). As usual, the speed limit sits at 250 km/h (155 mph), but you may opt for the M Driver’s Package for a lift to 305 km/h (189.5 mph).

Even in its most basic version, the M8 Gran Coupe ships with adaptive suspension and large brakes (396mm/15.4in front, 380mm/14.8in rear). You may upgrade these to a carbon-ceramic design. The wheels measure 20 inches across.

Unlike the regular Gran Coupe, the newcomer boasts a rear wing, restyled bumpers and grille, laser LED headlights, a quad exhaust system, and a carbon roof. A carbon exterior trim kit is available at a premium.

Crack open the door to see new seats, the M steering wheel, a different gear selector, a 12.3-inch digital dash screen, and a 10.25-inch multimedia display.

The M8 Gran Coupe comes with broad customization opportunities spanning as far as the powertrain, AWD, steering, suspension, and brakes. The default drive modes are Road, Sport, and Track, and you may customize two more.

The first 400 customers will be getting the First Edition series, which sports a Diamond Green livery with bronze accents, exclusively designed wheels, and a brown leather trim inside.
