Rumor: Bugatti working on a unique open-top Chiron roadster
Multiple sources have reported that the French hypercar maker is busy piecing together a topless Bugatti Chiron for a client who allegedly paid €9,000,000 for it before taxes.
Even ahead of the Bugatti Chiron premiere, rumors had been circulating that some of the 500 planned units would get the Targa body style and thus serve as successors to the Veyron Grand Sport / Grand Sport Vitesse line. The manufacturer put those speculations to rest afterwards, saying that there would be no open version. Even so, the company is dedicated to producing highly customized vehicles for its clientele.
At €9 million, the roadster is priced above the ultra-rate Bugatti Centodieci (10 units, €8M each), but below the unique La Voiture Noire (€11M).
Given how many spin-offs and special editions the Bugatti Chiron has spawned throughout its four-year long history, the rumor actually sounds plausible. We will report if (or when) it gets an official confirmation.
