Manhart makes the Porsche 911 Turbo S 991.2 relevant again
The debut of the 992 generation of Porsche 911 Turbo S did little to diminish the tuning value of its previous generations. Today, Manhart Performance came out with its own rendition of the 991.2 model called “TR 850”.
The numeric index refers to the engine power. The 3.8-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine gets a boost from 580 to a whopping 850 metric horsepower (572 – 838 U.S. horsepower or 427 – 625 kilowatts, respectively). The numbers are valid for all Sport Chrono Package-equipped cars in Overboost mode. The torque simultaneously rises from 750 to 1,090 Nm (553 – 804 lb-ft).
The power kit includes improved turbochargers, CSF intercoolers, IPD aluminum intake system, BMC air filter, a revised exhaust system, and an ECU reflash. For the seven-speed semi-auto transmission to be able to cope with the increased load, it gets heavy-duty clutch mechanisms along with optimized software.
As a result, the car zaps from nothing to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) in mere 2.4 seconds instead of 2.9s, and can exceed the factory-rated max speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).
On a curious side note, the TR 850 is not road-legal in Germany where its Manhart free-flow, stainless-steel, active-valve exhaust unit is considered too dirty without catalyst. You can still buy a compact-sized catalytic converter for it if you wish, and the new system growls in a much louder and more powerful way than the stock one.
The car rides on Levella LVL 1.1 centerlock wheels painted black with yellow rims. The front axle sports 9×21-inch wheels, while the rear one makes use of a broader 12×21-inch pair. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires measure 255/30 ZR21 at the front and 325/25 ZR21 in the back, and H&R springs drop the height by 30mm (1.2”).
The standard tuning kit includes engine, transmission and suspension improvements. Brakes, body kit and interior are all optional upgrades. The TR850 power kit costs €27,186, the exhaust system €5,750, the wheels add another €8,480, the H&R springs €429, and the body graphics (black stripes/yellow body or bronze stripes/black body) adds €974.
