Lamborghini Huracan STO debuts on official terms
The long-awaited Lamborghini Huracan STO (stands for ‘Super Trofeo Omologata’) is finally here. Let us see what this road-legal track weapon is all about.
The newcomer is meant to succeed the Huracan Performante AWD, the ex-champion of the Nürburgring and the first member of the iconic Evo family. However, the new Huracan STO has its drive affixed to the rear axle, and it utilizes even more racing tech borrowed from the Huracan GT3 Evo and the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo.
The car boasts a revised body and kit with numerous air intakes and vents directing the air streams in optimal ways. The car has a 37% lower drag compared to the Performante, exerts 53% more downforce and weighs 43 kg (95 lbs) less. The curb weight is 1,339 kg (2,952 lbs).
Other notable features include stiff suspension, a wide track, heavy-duty brakes, and three selectable drive modes: STO, Trofeo and Rain. The interior contains a roll cage, a helmet compartment, and a trim that involves plenty of Alcantara and carbon fiber. A telemetry system is provided for recording and analyzing race results, and customers are invited to take advantage of the Ad Personam program for deep interior customization.
The standard 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 still churns out 640 PS (631 hp / 471 kW) and 565 Nm (417 lb-ft) of torque. The weight-to-power ratio is 2.09 kg per metric horsepower. Sprinting 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes three seconds, and braking from that speed needs a 30-meter-long brake path. Going from zero to 200 km/h (0-124 mph) is a matter of nine seconds, and the top speed lies at 310 km/h (192 mph).
Pre-orders have already started, and the first shipments will be made next spring. Prices in Europe start from €249,412 before taxes. In all likelihood, the STO will be the last mass-issue Huracan ever made.
